  • Friday 2 February 2024 Castle Hill Blog 02/02/24 It's Friday again, I hope that you have all had a good week. It's been explosive here at Castle Hill, well in Year 8 Science lessons anyway...They have been learning about igneous rocks and how they are formed from lava cooling after volcanic eruptions.
  • Friday 26 January 2024 Castle Hill Blog 26/01/24 One of the things about our school which makes it such an incredible place is the willingness of our staff to share their knowledge with other professionals and showcase their best practice. We welcomed a number of teaching assistants from another school this week accompanied by our link governor for teaching and learning. Their effusive feedback demonstrates their positive experience:
  • Friday 19 January 2024 Castle Hill Blog 19/01/24 Friday has arrived again and we have all had another joyous week here at Castle Hill. This afternoon I was treated to a hilarious re-enactment of Henry the 8'ths turbulent reign and then I went on to read the makings of a fantastic novel authored by one of our Year 9 pupils.

  • Friday 8 December 2023 Castle Hill Blog 08/12/23 Our friend Alan Clews has yet again very generously donated us a magnificent Christmas tree from his business HAC plants. The children had a wonderful time decorating the tree, I'm sure you will all agree it looks spectacular!
  • Friday 1 December 2023 Castle Hill Blog 01/12/23 Although this week has been incredibly icy, our dedicated site manager has been out at the crack of dawn ensuring that all the paths and outdoor walkways have been gritted. We are very lucky to have such a hard working member of our team who is willing to brave the elements to keep us all safe!
  • Thursday 23 November 2023 Castle Hill Blog 23/11/23 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Castle Hill. Staff have donned Santa hats and glasses for some festive singing and if my eyes did not deceive me there were some dancing elves on the stage this morning! I know that Christmas is a happy time for most, but not all have reasons to celebrate. Our Castle Hill nurture group helped to organise shoe box contributions for Operation Christmas Child. This is a scheme to try and support disadvantaged children during the Christmas period.
  • Friday 17 November 2023 Castle Hill Blog 17/11/23 As I drove into School this morning a Christmas song came on the radio and I felt a flutter of excitement for all the incredible things that happen here at Castle Hill to celebrate the build up!
  • Friday 10 November 2023 Castle Hill Blog 10/11/23 As the winter nights close in sometimes this can have a negative effect on our behaviour and we might be feeling low in mood. Exercise has been proven to help with this, therefore our pupil support nurture class have been enjoying the use of our onsite gym this week to give them a boost!

  • Friday 13 October 2023 Castle Hill Blog 13/10/23 As autumn arrives and the colours burst across the leaves on the trees I always try to find reasons to be thankful. This year I feel more thankful than ever for the joy and inspiration that our children at Castle Hill bring to us each and every day. I walked into a GCSE class and was so impressed with the exceptional standard of work that I asked for it to be photographed and shared right here! A massive thank you to the pupils and their brilliant teacher Mrs McGuiness.

I have been delighted to award them well deserved headteacher's credits.   • Friday 14 July 2023 Castle Hill Blog 14/07/23 I cannot believe that I am a year into my role as headteacher at Castle Hill. The time has passed in a blur of activity with mostly a sparkle of joy and magic throughout. My assembly theme to celebrate our pupils' achievements this year was: Inspiration. I am inspired by the positivity of the pupils here at Castle Hill every day. Also, I'm sure you all agree that it is inspirational that so many of my staff gave up their free time to ensure that the summer fair was a success! I do hope those of you that came had fun.

I apologise that I did not share our news with you last week, however we were a little busy preparing to welcome our colleagues from Ofsted into school. I am pleased to inform you that the inspection went well and your should be very proud of your children and our school. I will look forward to sharing with you the official report and grading early in the Autumn term.
  • Friday 23 June 2023 Castle Hill Blog 23/06/23 This week has filled me with immense pride as we have celebrated the amazing achievements of our Year 11s and Year 13s. They have stolen our hearts and we will be forever grateful to have had the privilege of seeing them grow into the most wonderful young adults. For those who are moving on to pastures new, I wish you the very best of luck and for those who are staying with us for 6th form and beyond, I look forward to welcoming you back in September for the next stage of your journey!

To celebrate mental health week the school council started the week decorating their beautiful cakes. Then, they showed impressive management and communication skills selling the cakes to staff and pupils.

  • Friday 5 May 2023 Castle Hill Blog 05/05/23 Greetings! Another fantastic week here at Castle Hill. The excitement has been building all week for our Coronation celebrations. I am sure we will have lots of fabulous photos to share with you next week. Also, our footballers have shown exceptional talent and respect in a tournament against Reddish Hall School. This would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of their coach Ricky Deveroux.
  • Friday 28 April 2023 Castle Hill Blog 28.4.23 It has been another busy and exciting week here at Castle Hill. I am incredibly proud of the sixth form students who smashed their Duke of Edinburgh practice expedition. Our Year 11 pupils have shown courage and responsibility, embracing their work experience placements. And, our Year 9s have demonstrated excellent social skills with their peers and members of the public on the Alton Towers residential.
  • Thursday 20 April 2023 Castle Hill Blog 21.04.23 A warm welcome back to our wonderful pupils and what a brilliant week it has been! The spring sunshine has brought about the birth of our beautiful new chicks and the flowers in 6th form have brought a splash of colour! With the improvement of the weather I thought it prudent to focus this week's spotlight on Forest School.
