Castle Hill Blog 23/06/23
This week has filled me with immense pride as we have celebrated the amazing achievements of our Year 11s and Year 13s. They have stolen our hearts and we will be forever grateful to have had the privilege of seeing them grow into the most wonderful young adults. For those who are moving on to pastures new, I wish you the very best of luck and for those who are staying with us for 6th form and beyond, I look forward to welcoming you back in September for the next stage of your journey!
Year 13 Duke of Edinburgh
Last week, Sixth Form students were on their final Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions. Despite the heat they showed great determination and teamwork.
Well done everyone!
A message from Julie Jones 6th Form:
On Tuesday the Sixth form said goodbye to our wonderful year 13 students. We joined together for the morning with a delicious a buffet breakfast and enjoyed time to say goodbyes. Year 13 left us with a round of applause from sixth form staff and students who lined the corridor. We will miss you, but look forward to welcoming back 10 of you in September for our new one year Pre-Internship course.
The day finished with a spectacular staff and student celebration meal at the Burretto Lounge! Don't they all look fabulous?
Creative Cartoon Cup Art
One of my favourite things to do as headteacher is to spend time walking around the school seeing what the pupils are doing in lessons. When I dropped into a Hub lesson last week I was so impressed with this piece of Art work I asked the pupil if it would be okay to publish it. I'm sure that you will agree it's a masterpiece!

Donations needed by Thursday 29th June!
Our parent group had the fantastic suggestion of a pre-loved uniform shop. We would like to be able to offer this at the Summer Fair. If you have any used but presentable uniform you could donate, it would be gratefully received!

And Finally...Teacher Strike Days
As you'll be aware, members of the NEU teaching union will be striking again on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. This will have a massive impact upon us and we expect over 28 teachers not to be in school on that day. We have therefore had to take the difficult decision to close school to all pupils in years 8, 9 and 10, except for a small number of vulnerable pupils whose parents and carers will be contacted separately. As on the previous strike day, pupils who receive free school meals will be sent a voucher by text or email.
Year 7 and 12 will be in school as normal on these days.
No after-school clubs will be running on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. Once again thank you for your ongoing support!
Have a great weekend!
