Get reading!
All students have now been given a reading book and reading record and should be reading at home each week. There will be credits up for grabs, for those who are regularly reading at home!
Riding the Rapids
Mrs Sanderson will be running the Riding the Rapids course again this term. This is a 10-week course for parents and carers, aimed at helping them understand and manage challenging behaviours. The course will run in school on Thursday mornings, starting on 6th October. We ran the course twice last year and, as the feedback below shows, the course was very well received:
- I will use the skills I have learnt with greater confidence and recognise that I am doing the best I can. Understanding and incorporating self-care has really helped to reduce my anxiety, which in turn has helped the family unit. Most importantly I know I’m not alone in the daily struggles of life with my beautiful boys.
- It was a really good course and I think that any parent of a child with learning disabilities should attend this course.
- Both facilitators were excellent guiding us through the course, everyone was very friendly and kept to times and respected each other.
If you'd like to sign up for the course, or find out more about it, contact Mrs Sanderson: rosie.danderson@castlehill.stockport.sch.uk (or phone school and ask to speak to her).
Keeping in touch
If they've not done so already, your child's form teacher will be phoning you over the next couple of weeks to introduce themselves and answer any questions you may have. Good communication between school and home is vital to your child's success at Castle Hill and their form teacher is the best person to contact in the first instance, with any questions or problems.
Monday 19th September
We are, of course, closed on Monday to mark the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. CBBC Newsround has a range of news stories including 'The Life of Queen Elizabeth II', 'What does a King do?' and 'Monarch, heir and coronation...what do the words mean?', that you might want to watch with your child.
