Castle Hill Blog 13/09/24
Another fantastic week has whizzed by at Castle Hill with much to celebrate. On Thursdays (KS4) and Fridays (KS3) we have an assembly which is a chance for us all to get together and reflect on a key theme or aspect of school. This week's assemblies were about our reward systems and celebrating this week's pupil achievements. One of our Year 7 pupils was particularly delighted that she had won the pupil of the week award. This moment of joy was precious for everyone, especially as her classmates were equally delighted. Right there in a nutshell is why we love being part of this wonderful school!
Super Simba!
Many of you will recall that we used to have an incredible therapy dog called Stevie who unfortunately had to take 'early retirement'. I am delighted to inform you that we now have Simba who is very excited to be taking on this role. Significant research has shown the power of animals, dogs in particular, to reduce anxiety and depression in children and adults. Pupils across the school who may need additional emotional support may be offered the chance to work with Simba.
Kindness is the Greatest Gift
Last term, the Year 12's collected for a local food bank. We had lots of donations and it was a huge success. The photo is a thank you card from them to say they really appreciated the donations from you all, they will go to help those in Stockport who are facing tough times.
Fact Finders!
This week a year 10 Asdan class were learning how to focus, find and select relevant information from magazines and newpapers.
Curious Clay
The year 9 pupils have been learning about clay and where it comes from as part of our ceramics topic. They have been making tactile posters to help them to understand where clay can be found. They have all worked very hard, listened well and followed instructions to get these done. Super work year 9, what a great start to the year.
