Coronation celebrations!
Despite the numerous rain clouds there's plenty of sunshine and smiles here as we focus this week's spotlight on the Hub!
A day in the Hub
Every day starts with a round of sensory circuits, this helps everybody to feel calm and get in the mood for learning! We also all then identify how we are feeling using the zones of regulation, this helps us to develop the skills to manage our own emotions.
In English some of our students have been working on spelling CVC words. We use a multi-sensory approach to learning to help keep our students engaged.
In Maths, some students have been working on identifying shapes. Some of our work is completed in a work station, this helps to build the skills to work independently and not rely on adult support.
In Science, Hub R have been learning all about combustion. This class have recently started working in the Science Lab completing all kinds of exciting experiments!
We are very lucky to have the wonderful Brooke, a music therapist who comes in every week to work with us. She works with some students 1:1 and then delivers some whole class sessions. Everybody loves getting the chance to play a range of instruments and we all enjoy working together to create some really cool music!
One of our students' favourite lessons is Forest School, in particular we enjoy going on the Forest School Bus and chilling out in the hammock!
A big thank you to the talented team of staff who educated and care for these inspirational young people.
Mental Health Week
Next week is mental health week, we will be offering the option to buy delicious cakes made and sold by our fabulous school council members. This is to raise money for our whole school nominated charity: MIND.
Looking ahead:
