Castle Hill Blog 11/10/24

This week, pupils have been encouraged to think about how to be kind to themselves and others. Linked to this, we are holding an exciting art competition. Your child has designed an image to promote mental health awareness. This can be printed onto a mug (other items are also available, please see the website for
more information). All instructions are on the artwork form that has been sent home.

Manchester Museum Visit

As part of their English topic, some of our Year 7 pupils enjoyed an exciting school visit to Manchester museum. They looked at different fossils and artefacts from the past to help them write about Mary Anning an English fossil collector, dealer, and palaeontologist. She became known internationally for her discoveries.

All pupils behaved very well and had a fantastic time!

Brilliant Braille

Braille is a unique tactile writing system of raised dots that blind and partially sighted people can read by touch. The ability to understand braille means that people with sight loss have access to written word and are able to enjoy reading for life. Here are some of our 6th form students using a braille machine to write their names.

Remembering Roxy Oldfield

To provide an outlet for the love and great sadness felt over the death of our 6th form student, Roxy Oldfield, the school has created a beautiful memory tree in the 6th form garden. It is Roxy's birthday next Thursday. The school are all invited to wear non-uniform including something blue if possible-this was Roxy's favourite colour. She adored animals so we would appreciate an optional donation which will go to an animal charity (we will confirm which one next week).
