Castle Hill Blog 08/03/23
Come with me and you will see a world of imagination...right here at Castle Hill, from fancy dress to creative dance, devouring books and competitive quizzes it's been a wonderful whirlwind of a week!
World Book Day
Our inspirational English lead Natalie Dean was the driving force behind what has been the Best World Book Day I have ever experienced in my 20 years in education. A huge thank you to her and all the enthusiastic and imaginative staff who brought her vision to life and led the incredible sessions across the school.
The wonderful Hagrid from Harry Potter (Eli in 7M) and the mischievous Winnie the Witch (Kirsty 8S).
Here are Auryn Fraser and Kaitlyn Grace starring in their fabulous reenactment of ‘The Smeds (Red) and The Smoos (Blue)’ by Julia Donaldson. All the pupils from 8S, HUB R and 9M really enjoyed creating their drama pieces based on the book! They used the tables and chairs and other objects from around the room to create the Smed’s and the Smoo’s spaceships in teams (the reds vs the blues) and flew to the different planets in our spaceships which was great fun. All the pupils seemed to have great fun during the lessons and created wonderful engaging pieces of drama!
Silent Disco
What a blast we all had throwing some shapes on the dance floor to some uplifting tunes and giggling with friends and staff. A MASSIVE thank you again to our kind friends at Autisk who generously lent us the equipment and to all my wonderful staff who gave up their precious time.
Sixth Form Superstars
Hold the front page...Jack Goodwin is perfecting his podcasting skills. We await the finished product with immense anticipation!
Jawariah Suleman in Year 14 is working at Ninas Nursery for her work placement . She is learning new skills that she can put on her C.V and clearly enjoying every moment!
Careers
We had a visitor in our KS4 assembly this week to celebrate National Careers week, Matt Quigley from UK Sports delivered an assembly to our KS4 pupils. He described his pathway from being at school to becoming a sports coach and successful business owner. Also, he advised our pupils what skills and qualities he looks out for in his employees.
