Castle Hill High School

Castle Hill Blog 07/02/25

I'm sure that you will agree it is easy to spend time with someone if they are positive and happy. However, when someone is angry or sad, this can make others feel uncomfortable and people can sometimes pull away leaving the angry or sad person on their own...I have just witnessed one of our pupils being relentlessly kind and encouraging towards their friend, showing them they will stay by their side even when they are sad. It's with this kind of behaviour the world is a brighter place for everyone!

Digging for Treasure!

Pupils were exploring what lies beneath them in forest school this week. Using the metal detector some were lucky enough to find old coins and other interesting objects. It certainly looks like Harry from HubE dug deep and had a brilliant time.

Travel Training

One of our highest priorities here at Castle Hill  (where it is possible) is to provide experiences for our pupils which develop a greater understanding of the wider world that we live in. We strive for our pupils to learn independence and resilience. Here is a Year 7 class learning how to use public transport.

We need your unwanted clothes!

Next week, charity bags and letters will be sent home about Donate Clothes for Sammy, to raise funds for school and Leukaemia and Myeloma Research. Please fill your bags over half-term with any unwanted clothes, towels, shoes, soft toys and gifts and return by 9am Wednesday 26th February. Thank you for your support!

Staff Wellbeing

If you don't put on the oxygen mask first you won't be able to help anyone else.

The staff who work at Castle Hill are incredible, as such it's important that they are encouraged to look after their wellbeing as well as the pupils'. During last night's training, staff could choose from a range of fantastic activities from yoga style wellbeing exercise, to circuit training and mindfulness colouring as well as many more. Thank you to all the staff who organised and led the activities it was a fantastic experience for all!

Food Safety

Anyone who has experienced food poisoning will tell you how awful and sometimes really serious it can be! This week our Year 10 Hospitality group have been learning how to  identify use by/best before dates on food packaging. This valuable life skill is an activity that forms part of their Food Hygiene and Safety unit.

And Finally...

Joseph proudly presented his CV to me, I'm sure you'll agree it is most impressive!
