Castle Hill Blog 06/02/26
This week’s assembly focused on the theme of belonging and how it shapes our school community. The closing message encouraged everyone to “make somebody feel like a somebody.” That spirit was clear in our pupils’ genuine delight for one another during the weekly awards ceremony. The winners experienced a powerful sense of achievement, while their friends and teachers gave enthusiastic applause and were filled with pride.

Inspirational Speaker
Our Year 8 pupils recently enjoyed an inspiring careers visit from a retired Police Constable. With a distinguished 30‑year career, he shared insights into the many roles within the force and recounted memorable encounters with celebrities while on duty.
The session was highly interactive. Pupils explored a curated album of news clippings and police‑vehicle photos, and handled vintage props, including his original baton and ceremonial helmet. He praised our pupils for their thoughtful questions and enthusiastic involvement in the demonstrations. It was a valuable opportunity for pupils to gain a real‑world understanding of public service. We are most grateful for him giving us his time!

Work Experience-Can you help?
Work experience in 6th Form is an integral part of the curriculum and a valuable opportunity for our students in helping them prepare for the world of work. It is fantastic to see our students thrive and grow in confidence after taking part in work experience placements. Current placements include charity shops, cafes, mechanics, care homes, and primary schools. Our Work Experience Coordinator, Shaun Rule, works tirelessly to try and source placements for our students but this can be extremely difficult to find willing participants. Therefore, we are reaching out to all parents and carers for your support in helping to source placements from any contacts you may have please. If you have any contacts through family, friends or local businesses where you feel someone may be able to provide a placement for a day or half a day a week, please could you let us know - we would be extremely grateful! Please contact myself, Abbie Nicholas (Head of 6th Form) or Shaun Rule (Work Experience Coordinator) on abbie.nicholas@castlehill.stockport.sch.uk or shaun.rule@castlehill.stockport.sch.uk. Thank you!

Parent Governor Election Success
I am delighted to announce the successful election of two new parent governors who will be joining the board next half term. Holly Drysdale and Stephen Clements Gray bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise which will undoubtedly benefit the school. On behalf of the school community we would like to welcome them on board.
