Key Stage 3
To facilitate a smooth transition to secondary school we operate a primary model in Year 7 with students being taught the majority of their lessons by their form teacher.
Lessons such as art, food technology and science are taught by subject specialist teachers in the specialist rooms.
In Year 8 students follow a more conventional secondary model with most lessons being taught by subject specialist teachers.
Classes in Years 7 and 8 are mixed ability groups with all lessons being differentiated to ensure all students are challenged and can make real progress. When necessary, intervention sessions are also offered to further develop students’ skills and ensure all students make progress.
To help students become more independent and develop vital lifeskills residential trips are offered in Years 7 & 8.
Full details of the Key Stage 3 curriculum can be found in our Curriculum Booklet.
